Make the Crib Transition With No Fuss in 3 Easy Ways

transition from crib to bedSome toddlers can’t wait to get out of their crib. Yours may have started climbing out on their own. For eager little ones, it’s best to move them to a bed sooner for their own safety. But other toddlers can be very attached to the security of their cribs and unwilling to make the change to a big bed. Here are three tips for parents trying to transition their child from a crib to a bed.

1. Make sure your child is comfortable in his new bed.

This is a big change in your child’s life and if he is a little hesitant about it, you can make the transition easier by keeping him comfortable. Place his favorite baby blanket and stuffed toys in the bed with him to soothe him to sleep. Also dress him in a cozy and warm sleep garment, like the Zipadee-Zip. The Zipadee-Zip provides babies with the snug feeling of security while allowing for the freedom of pajamas. With Zipadee-Zip, babies are free to stand up, crawl, roll and move around safely. The versatile sleep garment works like magic to help babies fall asleep and stay asleep.

2. Have your child help pick out his bed.

If you take your toddler to the store with you to pick out his big-kid bed, chances are that he will be more excited about using it. You should also let him pick out some fun bedsheets with cartoon characters that he loves. Picking out a toddler bed with built-in guardrails can make your child feel more comfortable and safe and you can encourage him to show off his brand new bed to friends and family who visit.

3. Stick to your regular sleep routine.

If your child has a regular nightly routine to get ready for bed, make sure you stick to it closely. If he always gets a bath before bedtime to calm him down, continue with the nightly baths. Read him a bedtime story and tuck him in with his favorite stuffed toys or have him put his toys to bed too. Try not to stay with him for longer than normal because your child needs to be able to fall asleep on his own.

transition baby from swaddleGuest blog by Stephanie Parker from, inventors of the Zipadee-Zip

The motto for Sleeping Baby, makers of the Zipadee-Zip, is: “Inspiring Dreams One Night at A time,” and that, in a nutshell, is how it all started…with one little dream that has since become the Parker family’s reality. When Brett and Stephanie Parker’s daughter, Charlotte, was born, the feeling that welled up inside of them was indescribable; they never realized until first looking into those baby blues of hers that they were even capable of that kind of love.

When it was time to transition baby from swaddling, the Parkers tried every sleep sack on the market and every swaddle weaning trick they could find for nearly two weeks and nothing worked to get baby Charlotte to fall and stay asleep.

Stephanie became determined to restore sleep and sanity to their household and set out to find a solution that would soothe Charlotte’s startle reflex and provide her the cozy womb-like environment she loved so much but still give her the freedom to roll over and wiggle around in her crib safely. Out of sheer desperation and exhaustion, the Zipadee-Zip was born. The first Zipadee-Zip(R) Stephanie put together on her little sewing machine worked like magic!

To date tens of thousands of Zipadee-Zips have been sold and all from word-of-mouth marketing. It is so rewarding for the Parkers to see other parents and babies getting the sleep they both need and deserve!
